Ha Ji Won to coach aspiring Chinese moviemakers

Actress Ha Ji Won alongside director Kim Ji Hoon will participate as mentors in the Korea-China youth cultural exchange program “Beijing Toto’s Workshop”, which is to be held in Beijing’s Kwanggeomun Middle School on August 13 through August 17.

In the program 40 youths from both Korea and China will engage in film-making for five days. Both Ha Ji Won and Kim Ji Hoon, who have been widely known in China since the release of the Korean movie “Sector 7”, will lecture students on filmmaking and participate in various fun events.

Ha Ji Won expressed, “We are glad to participate as special mentors of Beijing Toto’s Workshop. We hope that our participation will be able to help the relationship between Korea and China. We can’t wait to meet Korean and Chinese kids.”

BoA’s “Vega Racer 2” CF released

BoA has been chosen as the newest endorsement model for Pantech’s mobile phones “Vega Racer 2”. The singer joins actor Yoo Seung Ho, who is currently the model for the Pantech’s “Vega S5” phones.

The new commercial featuring BoA began airing on television on August 4th. The 15-second CF shows BoA holding the Vega Racer 2 phone with her track “The Shadow” off of her latest album ‘Only One’, playing in the background.

Pantech launched its first android phone “Sirius” in 2010 and has since sold over 6 million of their smartphones. The new Vega Racer 2 was launched last July and features a 13-pixel camera with a 5-inch screen.

Kim Hyung Jun kickstarts second Japan tour

SS501’s Kim Hyung Jun kicked off his second Japan tour with three exciting shows in Tokyo last weekend.

Celebrating the release of his new mini album ‘Escape’, Kim Hyung Jun started his nationwide tour in Japan titled “KIMHYUNGJUN 2012 2nd Story in Japan”. The singer held three shows on August 3rd at the ZEPP Tokyo in Tokyo, Japan on the opening day of his large-scale tour.

Kim Hyung Jun heated up the stage with brilliant performances in front of some 1,500 Japanese fans. He performed his new tracks in Japan for the first time including “Sorry I'm Sorry” and 18 other tracks.

The singer will be traveling next to other ZEPP music halls in cities including Fukuoka, Osaka, Nagoya and Sapporo until August 25th.

TVXQ releases “TVXQ Live Tour 2012 Tone” DVD in Korea

TVXQ’s special DVD featuring footage from their last tour in Japan made it into Korea on August 8th.

Titled “TVXQ Live Tour 2012 Tone”, it contains full length performances of the duo’s ‘TONE’ tour, which took place in Japan between January and April. The DVD has ranked at the top of Oricon’s Daily and Weekly DVD chart and handed the group the record of first foreign artist to top the DVD chart consecutively with two DVDs.

“TVXQ Live Tour 2012 Tone” was released in two versions, 2DVD and 3DVD which contain footage from their tour as well as performances from the Tokyo Dome concert. The 3DVD version contains ‘Backstage & MC Digest’, ‘Live Digest in Saitama Super Arena’ and ‘MC Movie in Tokyo Dome’.

MBLAQ to star in new variety show ‘Idol Manager’

MBLAQ will be starring in the upcoming MBC Every1’s variety program ‘Idol Manager’ before releasing their sixth album this fall.

Scheduled to begin airing on August 17th, ‘Idol Manager’ is a reality show that features an in-depth coverage of idol group members for 24 hours. In the show, three female managers will be acting as paparazzi as they follow around MBLAQ to their schedules and daily activities.

Mir stated, “MBLAQ has appeared in a lot of entertainment programs but this program is very different. I think it will be fun for both our members and the viewers since the premise of following an idol group around for 24 hours hasn’t been done before. Please look forward to it.”

Lee Joon said, “I feel so honored that our industry seniors will become our temporary managers. I’ll try my utmost to make this show interesting.”

“Arang and the Magistrate” to air special prior to premiere

Upcoming MBC drama “Arang and the Magistrate” will be airing a special ahead of the drama’s official premiere.

MBC announced that it will air a special episode titled “Enjoying ‘Arang and the Magistrate’ 100 Times More” on August 8 at 9:55PM KST. The special will give viewers an insight on the backstory of the drama, as well as many more behind-the-scenes treats.

A representative of MBC stated, “This is the first time in five years since MBC has released a special prior to a drama’s debut broadcast. In hopes to thank fans who have been waiting for ‘Arang and the Magistrate’, we have decided to prepare a special episode.”

“Arang and the Magistrate” is the fantasy melo-historical drama based on a legend about the ghost Arang (Shin Min Ah) who wants to know the truth about her death and a magistrate (Lee Jun Ki) who can see her. The drama will premiere on MBC on August 15 at 9:55PM KST.

Actor Lee Min Ho has shared a new behind-the-scenes photo from the set of his upcoming SBS drama “Faith”.

On August 7th, Lee Min Ho posted the above photo on his me2day account with the captions, “Frost has fallen in the middle of the summer. Cheer up even though the weather is sizzling hot!”

JYJ’s Junsu to release English single “Uncommitted”

Prior to his upcoming world tour, JYJ’s Junsu has decided to release an English single album instead of a repackaged album.

On August 8th, C-JeS Entertainment announced that Junsu (Xia) will release an English single titled “Uncommitted” which will include an English version of his solo album title track, “Tarantallegra”. The single will be a special release for his upcoming North and South America and Europe tour.

For the new album, Junsu has collaborated with Sony Music’s composer Bruce Automatic Vanderveer, who previously worked with the likes of Christina Aguilera, The Wanted, and Leona Lewis. “Uncommitted” is a R&B pop song that will accentuate Junsu’s sexy voice.

The agency added, “While his first solo album ‘Tarantallegra’ displayed Junsu’s individual musical and performance style, the new single aims to show another side to him as a vocalist.”

The single as well as a music video will be pre-released digitally on the third week of this month. Offline sales for the single album will be available starting August 23.

Hoya-Dongwoo unit ‘INFINITE H’ to unveil new track at concert

INFINITE’s sub unit has prepared special surprise for the upcoming concert.

Set to be kicking off their summer concert “INFINITE CONCERT That Summer” on August 8th, the group’s agency Woollim Entertainment made a surprising revelation that Hoya and Dongwoo will reveal a new song under the subunit ‘INFINITE H’. The song will be performed during the concert for the first time.

The agency also revealed that they decided to release the song to show their thanks to fans who have showed love and support to INFINITE. The new song was created by the talented producers Primary and Zion.T.

‘INFINITE H’ is comprised by the group’s rappers Hoya and Dongwoo. The subunit has already received much love from fans for their performances of “Crying” and “You Look Good”. Though they will reveal new song during the concerts, the agency currently has no plans if the duo will perform on music broadcasts.

KARA’s new mini album to be titled “Pandora”

According to the girls’ agency DSP Media, KARA’s 5th mini album has been confirmed to be “Pandora”. The album will contain a total of five tracks, including the title track with the same name.

B2ST releases full character photos for comic series ‘The Beast’

B2ST members will be transforming into comic characters in a new comic book series titled ‘The Beast’. The full character photos have been revealed, giving a glimpse of the animated appearances of the B2ST members in a mysterious and ‘beastly’ feel.

The artist, Jenna, used the latest concept photos of the members to create the cartoons with very accurate characteristics. In the series, Hyunseung possesses the power of teleportation, Dongwoon has photographic memory, Yoseob creates illusions with his singing, Junhyung can mind-read by touching, Doojoon holds immense physical energy and GiKwang has the power of psychokinesis.

The first volume of the series, which is titled “Destiny’s Beginning”, is scheduled to be released on August 22nd. The comic book has a total of six volumes and is planned to be released abroad.

Who is ‘The God Of New Records’?

TVXQ have added another new record to their repertoire in Japan.

The duo’s new ‘LIVE TOUR 2012~TONE~’ DVD, which was released on the 25th of July, has sold approximately 151,000 copies in its first week, making it the most sold DVD for the week on Oricon’s daily and weekly DVD charts.

This is the fourth time TVXQ has topped Oricon’s weekly DVD charts, breaking their own previous record for the most no.1 spots in the DVD charts for foreign artistes. They have also become the first foreign artistes to have two consecutive productions top the DVD charts.

On the 1st of August, Oricon reported on TVXQ’s remarkable activities with an article titled, ‘TVXQ become the First Foreign Artistes To Have Two Consecutive DVDs Top the Charts!’

The group’s most recent DVD contains footage from TVXQ’s concert at Tokyo Dome on the 15th of April, which was part of the ‘TVXQ LIVE TOUR 2012~TONE~’ concert tour that passed through 11 cities and attracted a total of 550,000 people in 26 concerts.

TVXQ broke another record in July with their single ‘ANDROID’ when it became their 11th single to top the Oricon weekly single charts. Eru is working with BEAST's Yong Junhyung.

The title song "Hate You" off of Eru's new mini album 'Feel Brand New Part.2' has been born as the new hit emotional song thanks to BEAST Yong Junhyung's rap featuring. The mixture of Eru's vocals and Yong Junhyung's rap helps the song give off a new modern taste.

By displaying Yong Junhyung directly in the teaser video clip, Eru attracted the attention of many fans. In the music video, Eru and Junhyung will be switching off singing and rapping their parts, creating a whole new different atmosphere.

About working with Yong Junhyung Eru said, "He is someone who is really good at rapping. I was scared and nervous at the same time wondering if he would match me well. I was someone who always did ballad songs, so I never tried a dance genre before. Baek Jiyoung noona had been a dance singer before so she matched well with him, but I was curious about how I would turn out. But, Junhyung worked to match me well. His voice was good and since he is a good rapper, everything went smoothly."

He said, "Before I recorded, I talked a lot with the composers. The song 'Hate You' was supposed to be a unit song. The role of the rapper makes a greater impact on this song compared to any others. It's almost as if I sang the chorus to a rap song. And because the rapper role was big to fill, I realized that I really needed to find someone who was a great rapper."

In addition he said, "I thought about it for a while and in the past I really wanted to give a song to BEAST so I gave him a call. Junhyung agreed right away that he will help out. He is a great friend you can rely on. When we were practice recording he was just mumbling some words, but everyone was satisfied. We convinced him to do this song with us no matter what."

Eru had even wrote the music video scenario himself. He was thinking about a story that everyone could agree with and he wanted to film the story of a bad woman. Not some unfaithful woman, just a bad woman.

Eru stated, "The music video itself is a half screen. Yong Junhyung and I both get the farewell message on the same screen. One man through a phone call and the other man through his girlfriend herself. Both suffer from the pain. Then the two men gather at one place and tell their story through singing and rapping. If you watch the music video until the end, you will think that this can actually happen in real life."

Sooyoung sheds tears after filming "The 3rd Hospital"!

Sooyoung who played the role of Violist, Kim EuiJin has completed her final filming of ‘The 3rd Hospital’ On August 5th. The 5-month long shoot which kicked off in March this year finally came to an end and Actress Choi Sooyoung could not hide her tears on the set after the final filming.

JYJ’s Junsu releases 1st Asia Tour highlight video

Following the release of his successful first solo album “Tarantallegra”, JYJ’s Kim Junsu kicked off his solo Asia concert tour. Armed with talents and powerful vocals, the singer amused various Asian countries including Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan and China.

Before concluding the tour with its last stop in Hong Kong and proceed to his upcoming world tour, C-JeS Entertainment unveiled special highlight video of Junsu’s first Asia tour.

INFINITE reveals rehearsal photos for ‘That Summer’ concert

With just a day before ‘That Summer’ concert kicks off, the boys of INFINITE are busy at work in the rehearsal studio.

A slew of behind-the-scenes photos of INFINITE during rehearsal have been revealed. Themed after a ‘summer vacation’, the boy group is working hard to make the concert a ‘vacation’ fans will never forget.

The reporters were met with large laughter that exploded from nearby staff members due to the joke, “I don’t think taking photos is going to work for me because I’m bare-faced,” which Sungyeol said while widely smiling.

Known for precise choreography, INFINITE will be showcasing variety of other performances during their concert. The boys will transform themselves into a band, created with guitarist L, the bassist Dongwoo, the keyboardist Sungjong, and the drummer Sungyeol.

Dongwoo commented, “I didn’t know time was going by when I was practicing (the bass),” Sunggyu cutely complained by saying, “The concert date is coming up soon, but there’s so many things to prepare for.” The members participated even with the planning stage of this concert, making it extra special.

The heat in the practice room was similar to the sweltering heat wave temperature outdoors.

Meanwhile, ‘That Summer’ concert will take place on August 8 through August 12 at Seoul’s AX-Korea.

‘SBS K-POP Super Concert in America’ has been postponed

The upcoming ‘SBS K-POP Super Concert in America’, which was scheduled to be held at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles on August 10th, has been unfortunately postponed to a later date.

The event’s official Facebook page announced on August 7th, “We regret to inform you that the SBS K-Pop Super Concert in America has been postponed to a later date. Tickets can be refunded on AXS.com or Hotdeal.KoreaDaily.com, depending on the method you used to purchase your tickets.”

They added, “We deeply apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment we caused all of you. Please await an official letter of apology from SBS. More details regarding the postponed concert will be posted as soon as possible.”

Many K-Pop fans have been disappointed with the news as the large-scale event boats an awesome lineup which includes Girls’ Generation, SECRET, SISTAR, CNBLUE, KARA, SHINee, MBLAQ, 2AM and 2PM.

JYP Entertainment’s “FAN’s Day” event ends in success

JYP Entertainment successfully finished its first ever “FAN’s Day” event.

Launching for the first time this year, JYP Entertainment and its artists held the “FAN’s Day” at the Seoul’s Platoon Kunsthalle from August 3 to 5. Approximately 4000 fans participated in the event to interact with their favorite idols in close proximities.

During the event, various exhibitions, displays and other fun activities were provided, and a lot of JYP stars attended to meet up with the fans.

Yenny, Lim, Suzy, Fei, and Chansung personally distributed coffee and snacks, Wooyoung and Junsu transformed into DJs at a booth and played fans-requested music, and Taecyeon, Yubin, Fei, Suzy, and Junho drew caricatures and hennas for fans on their arms and faces. Sohee, JOO, JB, Jr. distributed ticket and bracelets at the entrance and Sunye and San E made special performances.

JYP Entertainment stated, “The artists were very happy to be able to do various things that they weren’t able to do before with their fans. We hope to get closer to the fans that give out their love to JYP Entertainment.”

‘Faith’ unveils official poster ft. Lee Min Ho and Kim Hee Sun

On August 7th, the production team of the upcoming SBS drama ‘Faith’ unveiled the first official drama poster featuring the eight characters.

The poster shows the main cast members including Lee Min Ho, Kim Hee Sun, Yoo Oh Sung, Sung Hoon, and Shin Eun Jung making charismatic poses. Each characters’ different and new looks are drawing people’s attention, arousing a lot of drama fans’ large anticipations.

‘Faith’ is another time-warping, historical fusion drama. Lee Min Ho will play Choi Young, who meets and confronts Eun Soo (played by Kim Hee Sun), a plastic surgeon who comes to the Koryo Dynasty from the modern times. The drama will premiere on August 13 at 9:55PM KST on SBS.
