Crayon Pop’s “Bar Bar Bar” featured in Billboard as K-Pop’s Viral Hit for 2013


Rookie girl group Crayon Pop, who is currently gaining much popularity with “Bar Bar Bar” for its unique tune and choreography, has been featured in popular music magazine Billboard.

Billboard posted an article titled, “Crayon Pop’s ‘Bar Bar Bar’: Watch K-Pop’s Viral Hit for 2013”. The article stated, “Nearly 12 months after Psy’s “Gangname Style” began going viral, K-pop has a new craze on its hands from another unlikely breakout star.”

Billboard introduced the group as an adorable quintet “outfitted in helmets and brightly-colored track suits that recall the Power Rangers” who “bring quirky dances through an amusement park.”

It also mentioned about “Bar Bar Bar” quirky choreography saying, “The choreography is centered around one particular move called the ‘Straight-Five Engine Dance’ with all five girls bouncing up and down like engine cylinders.”

The group’s sudden success is unexpected and its unique tune and choreography served as the main key to Crayon Pop’s viral craze. Despite being a rookie, their music video receives over two million YouTube views in less than two months and the video has had big TV exposure and parodies from local celebrities.
