“Reply 1994” Actors Jung Woo, Go Ara and Others Sign Copies of Book for Lucky Fans

The “Reply” franchise continues to churn out goodies for fans of the drama. To commemorate the publication of the “Reply 1994” book adaptation on January 16, the cast each signed copies of the book to thank fans for their support.

All seven of the Sinchon boarders took part: Jung Woo (Trash), Go Ara (Na Jung), Yoo Yeon Seok (Chil Bong), Kim Sung Kyun (Sam Cheon Po), Son Ho Joon (Haitai), Min Do Hee (Jo Yoon Jin) and Baro (Binggeurae).

“Reply 1994” couple Jung Woo and Go Ara both signed their names in English, writing the first letter in capitals and the rest in cursive script.

Yoo Yeon Seok’s signature was blockish, and he penned out a “Happy New Year” greeting in clear font. Kim Sung Kyun and Son Ho Joon signed theirs in flowing Korean script, while idol singers Baro and Do Hee revealed their charming signatures.

B1A4’s Baro wrote in his copy, “Thank you for giving ‘Reply 1994’ so much love all this while. Please continue to support me in future. Happy New Year.” He ended the greeting with a Binggeurae emotion.

The seven each posed for pictures holding copies of the book. Go Ara leans over a table and smiles warmly for the camera, striking a V-sign. Jung Woo looks sharp in a suit, while Yoo Yeon Seok is casually dressed in a polo T-shirt, showing off his arm muscles.

“Reply 1994” has been adapted from screen to a book. A representative of 21st Century Books, the publishing company that put the book together, said, “We focused on depicting the characters’ feelings in detail. We included the famous dialogues and you’ll be able to feel the rich feelings conveyed through the drama.”

The book is supposed to be an easy read, and includes the mystery of Na Jung’s husband and the diverse memories that the Sinchon boarding house friends built with one another. It also includes minute details about the era, cultural landscape and artifacts that are sure to bring on a wave of nostalgia.

Satoori (Korean dialect) expressions were also used in the book. Son Ho Joon revealed, “I was curious how the book would express the Jeolla-do satoori that I used. Reading the rough satoori in print was interesting but different.”

Fans who buy the book from one of these four major online book sellers, Kyobo Books, Yes24, Aladdin and Interpark, will have the chance to win a signed copy of the “Reply 1994” book.
