Facing increasing pressure from Muslims around the word, 2NE1's record label YG Entertainment has removed a sample of hafiz Mohammad Thaha al-Junayd performing a recitation of verses from the Quran from CL's recent performance of the song "MBTD (CL Solo)."

In the edited video performance of "MBTD (CL Solo)," which was posted to 2NE1's official YouTube on Thursday, the controversial sample has been removed.
Activist Fahad Fadel of the city of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, whose online petition to censor the sample of the Quran reading from the 2NE1 track, received over 11,000 signatures, is thrilled at YG's decision.
"We are very glad that YG entertainment has responded to our demands as they should, since our demands weren't much," Fadel said in an exclusive interview on Thursday with KpopStarz.
"It shows that the company has an ear to listen with objectivity and make the right judgments in favor of their fans."
"Our goal was met when they edited the song," Fadel added. "We hope this will send a message to all entertainment companies so they be careful in the future [regarding using the Quran for entertainment purposes]."
YG's release of the censored version of "MBTD (CL Solo)," and the apparent removal of the other versions of the song from the official 2NE1 YouTube channel, came just one day after the local organization the Korea Muslim Federation got involved.
"Muslims find this song to be a severe insult and are demanding for the record label to take action, including quickly removing it or editing the entire song, and apologizing to Muslims," the statement on Wednesday read, according to the website allkpop.
"In the case that they don't comply to our request, we will take action with the Muslims around the world who find this to be a serious matter."
Now that the issue has been resolved, Fadel hopes that Muslim and non-Muslim 2NE1 fans can begin to heal the rift that the controversy created.
"We don't hold any grudges against CL," he said.
"It occurs to me that some hateful messages have reached CL and some people are using this to fuel to their own arguments. Please don't be alerted by the minority that started barking at a wall since they don't represent the majority [of the group's Muslim fans]. They're immature people that let their anger get the best of them."
YG Entertainment has ignored our repeated requests for a comment on this issue.
