It was a dream come true on August 30 for K-pop fans as one of the biggest companies, YG Entertainment, held their first ‘YG Family 2014 Galaxy Tour’ in Shanghai. With amazing artists line-up such as Big Bang, 2NE1, Epik High and PSY, it was no wonder the concert drew over 35,000 fans to the Shanghai Stadium!
Power girl group, 2NE1 took the stage with their latest comeback track ‘Crush’ and kept the energy going with their hit songs such as ‘Fire’ and ‘Come Back Home’. Hip-hop trio EPIK HIGH then took over after the four divas and performed ‘With You’ and ‘Love Love Love’.
Newly debuted group, WINNER, impressed the crowd with their title track ‘Empty’ and 3 songs from their reality battle show (WIN: Who Is Next), ‘Go Up’, ‘Smile Again’ and ‘Just Another Boy’. Dubbed monster rookies, the group has been dominating the charts and sweeping one music award after another with their debut album.
Decked in gold outfits, BIG BANG made an explosive appearance. The stadium turned into a sea of yellow-gold as VIPs (Big Bang fans) switched on and waved their crown light sticks. Fans became one as they sang along and even did fan-chants to the songs performed: ‘Haru Haru’, ‘Bad Boy’ and the crowd favourite ‘Fantastic Baby’.
Veteran soloist PSY, who has made his mark globally on the music industry with the viral song ‘Gangnam Style’, also sang other upbeat tracks from his past album such as ‘Right Now’ and ‘Champion’.
A bonus highlight of such a huge combined concert would be the special collaboration stages that cannot be missed! The swag leaders of 2NE1 and BIG BANG showed their versatility by converting CL’s solo song ‘The Baddest Female’ into ‘The Baddest Male’ and also performed ‘MTBD’. Seungri remade G-Dragon’s solo song ‘Crayon’ while WINNER’s Song Min Ho and 2NE1′s Sandara Park joined hands to perform T.O.P’s ‘Doom Da Da’.The final combined act were by EPIK HIGH and Taeyang who sang the much-anticipated remake of ‘Eyes Nose Lips’. It was a special treat for fans as such collaboration stages only happen on a major music show or a YG family concert.
The YG Family Tour will head to the next stop, Singapore on September 13 and 14 followed by Beijing on October 19 and Taiwan on October 25.
