“When a Man Loves” Hwang Jung Min Kissed Han Hye Jin So Hard Her Lips Bled

Actor Hwang Jung Min revealed the behind-the-scenes of his kiss scene with actress Han Hye Jin.

Starring in the film “When a Man Loves,” Hwang Jung Min recently released a photo diary that he personally wrote about the film set. True to his usual self, the photo diary is honest and frank, a one-of-a-kind.

One of the photos was of a kiss scene he did with Han Hye Jin. He wrote, “A scene at a Gunsan village building where I corner Ho Jung (Han Hye Jin) and kiss her. The most passionate scene in our movie. I remember we both felt awkward and didn’t know what to do. It [the kiss] was so intense my teeth hit Hye Jin’s lips and made them bleed.”

Also in Hwang Jung Min’s photo diary is a picture of Han Hye Jin getting hit in the forehead with a firecracker, an embarrassing photo of him and Kwak Do Won at a barbershop, a photo of him goofing off in a woman’s wig that he got from the makeup team, etc.

“When a Man Loves” was released on January 22, and is the story of a rough man who falls in love for the first time.

Sunmi Will Face Fierce Competition for Her February Comeback

Former Wonder Girls member turned solo singer Sunmi will be making her official comeback in mid February.

As the singer had her official solo debut last August with her hit song, “24 Hours,” many have come to anticipate the new song. According to entertainment insiders, the sexy singer is set to release a mini album with about five to six tracks. With her title song produced by Park Jin Young, Sunmi is expected to once again make headlines with an upgraded and more mature performance.

Last year, Wonder Girls’ member Ye Eun had mentioned in Wonder Girls’ fancafe about her participation in Sunmi’s upcoming album. Ye Eun had written, “I am thinking of genuinely striving to produce music. One of my songs will be featured in Sunmi’s upcoming album. This time, I worked with composer Lee Woo Min to produce the song, and you will be able to hear Sunmi’s powerful vocals.”

A representative of Sunmi also commented, “We are trying to make her comeback within the month of February.  Currently we are making final adjustments to the song, and preparing for an eye catching performance that is an upgrade from ’24 Hours.’”

With Sunmi’s comeback in February, the singer is bound to face some fierce competition. Sexy group Brown Eyed Girls’ member Ga In plans to release her solo album on February 6, while it was also reported that veteran girl group Girls’ Generation would be making their official comeback by the end of February.

We can’t wait to hear Sunmi’s new song, and watch her powerful and sexy performance!

Dohee Talks about “Reply 1994,” Plans for the Future, and Yeosu in Lunar New Year Interview

Dohee Talks about “Reply 1994,” Plans for the Future, and Yeosu in Lunar New Year Interview

Dohee Talks about “Reply 1994,” Plans for the Future, and Yeosu in Lunar New Year Interview

Tiny-G’s Dohee shot through stardom through last year’s tvN drama “Reply 1994,” in which she played a foul-mouthed, Seo Taiji ultra-fangirl and girlfriend to Sam Cheon Po (Kim Sung Kyun), Jo Yoon Jin. Dohee moved to Seoul from her hometown of Yeosu four years ago, and is the lead vocalist for girl group Tiny-G. The group debuted in 2012.

Born in 1994, the year that “Reply 1994” was set in, Dohee auditioned at GNG Production and moved to Seoul at 18 to become a trainee. She was a social outcast at school not just because she came from the provinces, but also because as a trainee, she kept leaving school early after morning classes.

Dohee expressed that there are times when she is unable to believe the popularity boost that “Reply 1994” has given her, and while she feels elated, she also feels a sense of responsibility to do better.. “In future I have to show an appearance that is different from Yoon Jin of ‘Reply 1994.’”

She also revealed that while Yoon Jin may be perfectly comfortable with swearing, the real Dohee feels uncomfortable, especially since she is asked to do it on every variety show she appears on. She says tiring for her, since she was doing it only because the script required her to. When she’s on variety shows, she’s Dohee but she’s also Yoon Jin, “they ask me to swear starting from my greetings to them, so it’s embarrassing.” (For reference, check out her Running Man episode on January 26 alongside Yeo Jin Gu and Im Shi Wan. Dohee swore at Kim Jong Kook, trademark Yoon Jin-style, when asked to do so and he was slightly taken aback.)

Do Hee in Hanbok
“Reply 1994” was Dohee’s debut into the acting world, and she felt burdened and worried by her lack of experience. She said that she learned a lot in the course of filming and “not just the actors, but also the director, camera and lighting directors were all her acting teachers.”

Yoon Jin was a huge fan of Seo Taiji in “Reply 1994,” and Dohee confessed that while she had heard of Seo Taiji, she didn’t really know the extent of his popularity at the time. So she looked up references, one of which led to Dohee having a tea session and chit chat with a big Seo Taiji fan. Dohee says that fans could identify with Yoon Jin, that “it led to them thinking about when they were young.” This became her source of strength. “It was an era that I didn’t really know much about so it was tough, but thanks to all the support, I was able to find the strength.”

Do Hee in Hanbok
Sam Cheon Po was an “early 1977-er” in the drama, while Yoon Jin was born in 1975. In reality, Kim Sung Kyun is 14 years older than Dohee. She says that Kim Sung Kyun helped her out a lot and taught her if there was anything she was confused about. He helped to ease her nervousness with funny gags and jokes, even during rehearsals.

The scene that is most memorable to Dohee is the “terminal scene,” probably one of the major turning points in the relationship between Yoon Jin and Sam Cheon Po, who were previously always bickering. Dohee had gone to a sauna with Na Jung and was uncontactable by her hearing-impaired mother, who had arrived in Seoul earlier than scheduled. It was Sam Cheon Po who ended up accompanying her mother, abandoning a long-awaited cycling trip.

“I prepared a lot for the scene, but ended up making a lot of NGs. It could be the most difficult scene of all. Sign language was hard, but it was the first scene in which I had to display my emotions and the first time I did a crying scene. The actual filming took a long time. There were many things I had to care about, so I think I was not able to show my sincerity. When I got confused, the director told us to take a break and we managed to shoot it after.”

Do Hee in Hanbok
Dohee talked about the “thrill of her first kiss.” She said that while it wasn’t just her first kiss during “Reply 1994,” but also her first kiss ever.

They filmed aboard a fishing boat, and the first thing that comes to Dohee’s mind is seasickness. “I threw up during filming because of seasickness. We went out to sea two hours before the sunrise to film that scene. I am also young and haven’t had much relationship experience. The irony is that my first kiss was the kiss scene filmed the day after my 20th birthday. I was really nervous and in a slight daze and wanted to get the shoot over with. Recently, I was surprised to find out that the PD told Sung Gyun oppa that he would be dead if he used any tongue during the kiss.”

Do Hee in Hanbok
Dohee has filmed 6 CFs, thanks to the popularity boost brought about by “Reply 1994.” I thought, “If not now, when will I ever get the chance to do this? So I worked hard to shoot the CFs.”

She has become interested in acting, and is currently working on her standard Korean. She doesn’t want to continue doing only roles that require satoori (dialect). So she’s been practicing at interviews, and trying not to use satoori in real life. She says she pays more attention now to listening to Seoul Korean (standard Korean) than before, including dramas which she watches in her spare time. “Lately I’ve fallen from SBS drama ‘Man from the Stars.’”

“It’s a different way of studying acting. Now I watch dramas not only as a viewer, but as an actress.” She says that in future, she’d like to try a tragic role or take on the role of the antagonist, and maybe one day, another female character with the same type of charisma as Yoon Jin. Dohee only has one drama on her resume, but she finds it interesting, because “through acting, I get to live different lives.”

Do Hee in Hanbok

However, while Dohee’s long term plans may include acting, her main focus for the coming year is her group, Tiny-G. She talked about her ambitious plans for 2014.

“Tiny-G is coming back soon, and I hope we can go up on the music charts. It would be nice if people got many opportunities to get to know Tiny-G. For myself, I would like to try acting in a different role.”

Dohee says that she would like to overcome her fear of variety shows. Despite multiple variety show appearances post-“Reply 1994,” she still finds them scary. One thing she wants to try is to become a fixed guest on a radio show.

Since she’s from Yeosu, she also really wants to become its publicity ambassador. She said that if she wasn’t busy during the Lunar New Year, she’d like to go down to Yeosu once, not just because it’s her hometown, but because she really wants to see the sea. Also, “I really love grilled oysters, and it is oyster season now. When I go to Yeosu, I definitely must eat that.”

YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk recently revealed that he had the WINNER members take acting lessons.

On January 31, Yang Hyun Suk appeared on Mnet’s “WINNER TV” episode that aired.

On that day, he revealed, “Since dramas are big in the overseas market right now, I had the WINNER members taking acting lessons for the past couple of years or so. However, I haven’t seen them act myself to assess their skills. I’m actually considering asking them to reenact the popular drama series, ’The Heirs’ on ‘WINNER TV.’”

He continued, “I think it will be a fun opportunity for WINNER to show fans and the public their potential for acting. I think Nam Tae Hyun would look best in a female disguise. I think the member who would be worst suited for the feminine look is Lee Seung Hoon.”

In the same episode, WINNER put on a parody of “The Heirs” and brought laughter to the viewers.

Watch Out For PSY’s New Doppelgangers!

Watch Out For PSY’s New Doppelgangers!

Two other doppelgangers of PSY have appeared!

On the SBS New Years special TV show “Star Face Off” that was aired on January 31, two men who looked just like PSY fought to conquer first place as the real star’s doppelganger.

First, Park Hyo Joon, an actor who is very much known for his features to resemble PSY’s showed some moves that made it hard to distinguish him from the real one. While his singing was not as competent, his superb dance skills and looks made us all forget about it.

On the other hand, a non-celebrity doppelganger of PSY turned out to be law student Kim Jae In. He is an amateur singer for various promotions, Kim Jae In’s performance as well as his slanted eyes and even his jaw muscles looked exactly like PSY’s.

Kim Jae In is a graduate of the prestigious Sungkyunkwan University in Korea and when asked whether his parents would approve of him coming on the show, he laughingly answered, “My dad doesn’t know yet. I think when we watch this at dinner on New Year’s, I might get hit on the head by his spoon.”

Secret’s Hyosung Successfully Performs Cheerleading Stunt on “Star King”

Hyosung, of girl group Secret, recently tried her hand at cheerleading and didn’t fare too badly.

The February 1 broadcast of “Star King” was a “King of Kings” battle between eight competing teams.

Hyosung transformed from celebrity into cheerleader for this episode, and showed off the results from her one week of daily rigorous training.

She was in good hands, training and performing with cheerleading champion team Impact. After Impact pulled of some difficult moves, Hyosung appeared on stage to join in the performance.

Supported by two male cheerleaders, Hyosung seemed at ease up in the air. She did a one legged stunt, extending her left leg out behind her, and was thrown into the air for a basket toss. She also managed a split at the top of a 2-2-1 formation, falling backwards and landing successfully.

Kim Soo Hyun Sleeps Only 1 Hour? The Reality of Drama Filming Schedules

Kim Soo Hyun Sleeps Only 1 Hour? The Reality of Drama Filming Schedules

Kim Soo Hyun Sleeps Only 1 Hour? The Reality of Drama Filming Schedules

Actor Kim Soo Hyun is in the midst of filming for SBS drama “Man from the Stars.” A representative from his agency, Key East Entertainment, gave an update on his recent condition. Filming takes place Monday through Sunday, and Kim Soo Hyun gets very little sleep. The representative said, “He had a CF lined up as well, so he filmed the CF and then went right back to the drama set at night. It is practically impossible to leave the drama set. Kim Soo Hyun plays an alien who came to earth 400 years ago, so he has to film scenes from the Joseon dynasty as well, so he has a really tight schedule.”

And it’s not just Kim Soo Hyun. Cable network tvN drama “Emergency Man and Woman,” which premiered on January 24, has a punishing filming schedule. Pressed for time like most other dramas, the cast attended the production press conference on January 21 looking slightly disheveled. Director Kim Chul Kyu said, “Just coming out of filming one time means today becomes tomorrow. We don’t take breaks in the middle, just a trip to the sauna for a bit, and then it’s right back to filming.” Lee Pil Mo, who plays prickly emergency department chief Gook Cheon Soo, commented, “There’s no going home to sleep. A corner of the emergency room has become home, and after sitting on the sofa for a while, we go straight to filming. In typical dramas, usually I go to the salon before coming to the set, but our set is an emergency room, so there’s not really any need to look good. Instead of going to the salon, I just sleep.”

“Emergency Man and Woman” took over its Friday-Saturday timeslot from “Reply 1994,” which in its last two to three weeks was practically in live filming mode, the production putting the finishing touches to the drama. Go Ara commented after the drama ended, “My dark circles were down to my chin, and my eyes had lost focus. I was spaced out while filming.” Kim Sung Kyun said, “By the end of filming, everyone had become a zombie.” Yoo Yeon Seok revealed, “Beginning from the middle of December, I barely got an hour of sleep a day. The staff displayed superhuman powers.”

The term they use to refer to the sort of sleep actors are prone to get while on set is “jjok-jam,” which means catching a nap during breaks in filming, but a rather uncomfortable sort of sleep. Production costs are probably the biggest factor, as filming days equate to money flowing out. Top stars and writers put pressure on production costs, so production days need to be reduced in order to counter soaring production costs. One may recall “Man from the Stars” $940,000 luxury sets.

In the case of a 16 episode mini-series, usually a minimum of four episodes needs to be filmed before the drama goes to air, but that really depends on circumstances. The day that KBS 2TV drama “Age of Feeling” (or “Inspiring Generation”) premiered, the cast filmed scenes for part two that hadn’t been filmed beforehand due to their overseas filming schedule. When “Age of Feeling” held its production press conference, a cast member was quoted as saying, “I haven’t begun filming yet, so I am unable to comment about my acting.” Considering that a single 70-minute episode usually takes seven to eight days, filming two episodes in one week is almost a physically impossible task.

Cast members in leading roles have overlapping filming schedules, so they are on an even tighter schedule. Other cast members and staff have to be on standby for filming, and while the production might prefer a smaller cast, they are considered necessary for viewership ratings. Writers are also occasionally late with their scripts; it has become habit to continually edit the script to optimize ratings.

Despite the lack of sleep and last-minute script deliveries, the cast are able to keep going for the sake of ratings. Ratings bring along recognition, and recognition is directly associated with CF contracts. Actors Jung Woo, Yoo Yeon Seok and Kim Sung Kyun from “Reply 1994” scored roughly 10 CFs each after the drama ended. “Man from the Stars” Kim Soo Hyun had about 10 CFs, but thanks to ratings approaching nearly 30%, he has added on banking, pharmaceutical and automobile commercials to his growing resume. For some, this could be a sufficiently sweet reward for lost sleep.

Go Ara Is Carefully Considering Next Role

Go Ara Is Carefully Considering Next Role

Go Ara Is Carefully Considering Next Role

Actress Go Ara earned rave reviews for her breakout role in “Reply 1994,” in which she was able to exhibit her youthful charisma as bright-eyed, straight-talking Sung Na Jung. She is said to be carefully considering her next role.

Aside from Jung Woo, her other “Reply 1994” co-stars have quickly signed on to new projects, but Go Ara seems to be taking her time.

It has been reported that she’s signed on to MBC’s new Monday-Tuesday drama “Triangle,” but this may not be confirmed. Go Ara’s side stated on February 2 that the actress has received drama and film offers for sageuks, period and modern pieces, and she is seriously considering her best move.

The many offers received come with a diversity of characters. A representative on Go Ara’s side said, “She’s had a variety of offers, from tragic female leads to lively characters. Her next role will be a piece of work in which she’ll be able to show off her charisma.”

Go Ara had been known more for her looks than for her acting skills, but people have started seeing her in a new light since “Reply 1994,” in which she chopped off her locks and received recognition for her acting as well as her cute charisma. Will she ride on the momentum of her fresh, bright image, or will she change her image once again? All eyes are on Go Ara as she chooses her next role.
