CNBLUE, will they seal ‘live’ in k-pop?

CNBLUE is stirring the way the Korean airwaves present music.

While actively promoting their newest song ‘I’m Sorry,’ CNBLUE has tried performing live on music programs for two weeks in a row.

It is atypical for a band to perform live on music programs airing live on television. Not only does the band have to pre-record the performance but they also have to rent the necessary equipment themselves. Plus, there’s time spent to consider since the band has to attend the live show in addition to pre-recording.

It’s the same scenario for producers. For CNBLUE’s live performance, each network music program’s production team held pre-recording sessions at night.

It’s been difficult for bands to appear on music programs because of such environment. Therefore, performing live despite the excess use of manpower, production cost and especially time is a significant change.

The large number of CNBLUE fans also cannot be ignored as the driving force of the development. But without a doubt, CNBLUE’s effort is changing network music programs’ system little by little.

After wrapping up their pre-recording session for live performance, CNBLUE thanked their fans  “We are so grateful of our fans who stay with us through the night. We were specially excited and happy because fans enjoyed our stage.”

2YOON appreciates Girls' Generation's compliment

4minute’s unit 2YOON were touched upon receiving compliments from Girls Generation.

On the 17th, 2YOON has released their debut album and is currently promoting with their title track, ’24/7′. 2YOON’s Heo Gayoon and Jeon Jiyoon has revealed to Star News on the afternoon of the 30th, that famous girl group Girls Generation cheered for them when they meet on a music broadcast station.

2YOON revealed, “Girls Generation-sunbaenims complimented us a lot, and it felt really good”and, “Girls Generation-sunbaenims said that ‘the song and the dance are good, and that the costumes and overall concepts were presented well’, while giving support to us”.

2YOON expressed, “Not only the title track, even the 4th track of our album ‘SseSseSse’ too, they said they liked it. We were touched to hear hem talk about the tracks specifically” and, “SNSD-sunbaenims’ praises have given us more strength”.

Just like how Girls Generation have put it, 2YOON want to meet fans with a different side of themselves.

Distinctive from 4minute’s powerful and charismatic activities, through ’24/7′, their friendly charms are shown. 4minute can easily differentiate themselves apart from other local idol groups with their never-before-tried Country Pop title track.

2YOON said, “Both of us are the vocal line of 4minute. Because of that, we have many chances of singing together on concerts or radio shows and more. During these times, we wished to release albums together, and so we suggested first to our agency” and, “Even after listening to our proposals, they asked us to ‘try once coolly’, and after that, we’ve participated in the album’s jacket, outfits, producing and more.”

Heo Gayoon personally took charge of the album’s jacket picture and even their stage overall styling, while Jiyoon wrote for ‘SseSseSse’, showing off her musical side.

2YOON hope that through this album, a different side of them can be shown, and through broadcast stages, they can communicate with fans more frequently.

2YOON expressed, “4minute including us, prefer to work than to rest” and, “We wanted to promote like this for some time. We hope to increase more awareness through looking at 2YOON’s songs and styles,” while smiling brightly.

For Kim Jaejoong’s solo mini-concert, his international fans have presented on a grand scale rice, coal briquettes and egg wreaths, which has become a tradition to show their loving support for him for the last four years.

On Jan 26 and 27, for the mini-concert “Your, My and Mine” held at Ilsan Kintex, fans from 11 countries: Japan, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Mexico, Spain, Peru, have donated 1.5 87 tons of rice wreaths, 2000 coal briquettes and 6700 egg wreaths. The rice will be donated to Kim Jaejoong’s selected charities for struggling families with children. 6700 egg wreaths will be distributed via food bank to 670 homes for the old folk and orphans living alone, to help with the problems of malnutrition that they face. Kim Jaejoong will choose 10 selected old folk living alone, and the 2000 coal briquettes will help with their heating for one month of winter.

Kim Jaejoong’s international fans have since 2010, begun large scale record setting support drives with rice wreaths to show their love and support for his concerts, fan meetings, promotions, drama press conferences etc. They have also supported long term donation and provided 50 needy children with 1 ton of rice a month. According to reports, Kim Jaejoong’s international fans have donated 7 tons of rice wreaths for his SBS drama Protect the Boss. Last year, for his MBC drama, Dr Jin, press conference, they donated a record setting 23.68 tons of rice wreaths. In addition, despite announcements that no rice wreaths will be accepted for the premiere press con for his movie Jackal is Coming, fans still sent large amounts of coal briquettes and mango trees, which showed just how hugely popular he is.

Also, on January 26 and 27, for the two day mini-concert “Your, My and Mine” held at Ilsan Kintex, a total of 16000 local and international fans attended Kim Jaejoong’s birthday concert. After the launch of his mini album, for the first time on stage, Kim Jaejoong appeared before his fans as a rock star, winning unending applause and screams of approval, and sending all who were present into swoons. Kim Jaejoong’s sexy low voice combined with high notes, and his powerful wide vocal range which can perfectly become hoarse or clear as different songs require, is his most valuable asset as a solo singer.

Kim Jaejoong opened the concert with his single “One Kiss” from his mini-album, followed by Im Jae bum’s “For You”, Lee Sun Hee’s classics and rock songs from old hits as well as from senior musicians who have influenced his music. He also sang the deeply meaningful song chosen by fans Kim Gwang Suk’s “Though I Loved You”. He also performed the songs from his mini-album “All Alone”, “Healing for Myself”, etc. fully demonstrating his beautiful voice. In addition, he performed the unreleased new dance track “Only Love” to delighted fans.

The 26th is Kim Jaejoong’s actual birthday, so he appeared in a giant cake on stage at the start of the fanmeet, whilst fans sang Happy Birthday. They also sang along to his OST song. This was followed by all sorts of birthday celebration activities. Kim Jaejoong has created a blissful time during this very special performance during the fanmeeting by interacting and playing games with fans in the first two parts of the concert/fanmeet.
