2NE1 New Evolution World Tour Taiwan wrap-up

Korean girl group 2NE1's first concert in Taiwan at Taipei Arena on 16th November 2012 received a commendable response. Tickets were 85% sold out, earnings were calculated to be an impressive amount of NTD$238000000 (~USD$8180369)!. 2NE1's strong dancing skills and sexy dance style meant that fans couldn't take their eyes off them. Not only did Dara flaunt her Mandarin Chinese language skills, she also gave a kiss to a lucky boy fan, which was one of the highlights of the night. 2NE1 first debuted 3 years ago and although this was their first time to hold a concert in Taiwan, they took up the challenge of performing at Taipei Arena (the biggest concert venue in Taiwan). With their amazing stage presence and live performance, there was never a moment during the 120 mins long concert where the fans were not feeling high! 2NE1's colorful fashion style designed by famous American designer Jeremy Scott was also very outstanding.

Before the concert at the press conference, CL revealed a unexpected bit of information: "Dara has stage fright and she always makes everyone nervous with her before the concert jitters but the moment she is on stage, she will be fine", which came as quite a surprise to news reporters. Because of the limited time available at the press conference, the host of the press conference and Korean translator had to talk very quickly. Knowing there wasn't much time left, CL playfully replied very slowly "eh.. um.." which made everyone at the press conference laugh. Dara also expressed her thoughts at the press conference: "coming to Taiwan allows everyone to know my Mandarin Chinese standard". 2NE1 said they are very interested in Taiwan fruits but they only had fruit juices to quench their thirst. They are also curious about Taiwan delicacies although they didn't have much time to try much. CL teased Minzy saying: "Minzy likes Taiwan delicacies!"

2NE1's style was always a hot topic. This time round, Minzy and Bom both cut their hair short. Reporters at the press conference asked if this has anything to do their upcoming comeback. Minzy didn't deny and replied: "please look forward to it!" while Bom said she really like her new hairstyle.

2NE1 began the concert with 2 of their most popular songs "I Am The Best" and "Fire". During the intermission, 2NE1 took turns to address the audience in Mandarin Chinese which drove the fans crazy. Leader CL shouted to the fans: "I love you!" Maknae Minzy also said: "I missed you!". Dara who can speak Mandarin Chinese the best, spoke a few sentences in Mandarin Chinese: "How are you? Are you happy? I am very happy to meet everyone!" and also asked fans to enjoy the concert. The girls changed their costumes 5 times and performed 25 songs. They also had their own solo stages.

CL transformed into a DJ and showed her DJ-ing skills on a 4.5m high stage. Bom sang 2 of her solo songs "Don't Cry" and "You & I". Minzy flaunted her dancing skills. The most special performance went to Dara's 'Kiss'. Dara picked a lucky boy fan from the moshpit and kissed his cheek, which left behind a pink lipstick mark. The boy was very shy after. The cameras then changed angles showing couples in the audience kissing! This was one of the main climaxes in the concert and this loving atmosphere was very heart warming.

After the concert, only CL and Dara, who were still high from the concert, attended the celebration party. Bom and Minzy were too tired. CL and Dara thanked the staff for their assistance. They also kept getting ice cream to eat.The organizer expressed that 2NE1 was very serious about their first performance in Taiwan. They had 2 live rehearsals and they never had time to go shopping because they wanted a perfect concert. After the first rehearsal, 2NE1 went back to the hotel and only ate sandwiches. The staff from Taiwan were very impressed with how hardworking 2NE1 was.

2NE1 left Taiwan on 17 November 2012 in the afternoon. 7 vans were hired by fans to stalk 2NE1. There were 200 fans at the airport to send 2NE1 off. The 4 girls were very friendly. They accepted fans' gifts and signed autographs for them.
