Qri is T-ARA's new leader!

Following the tradition of T-ara, leader Soyeon passed the leader position to Qri, making her the 5th leader of the group.

On July 14, the group's agency revealed that in preparation for T-ara's upcoming album and Areum's departure, Qri has been selected to lead the group. After Eunjung, Boram, Hyomin and Soyeon, Qri is now the 5th leader.

The agency explained to Osen, "It is a part of the group to change the leader whenever there are new activities. For this, Qri is going to be in charged of their future activities."

Soyeon has been the leader for one and a half year since January 2012. On July 13, Qri stood up on the stage as the leader for the first time at Budokan arena in Tokyo, Japan.

On the said day, Qri announced, "I really had fun for today is my first day as the leader. Please look forward for brighter T-ara." After her short speech, the fans cheered for her who received warm welcome.

Meanwhile, T-ara is going to promote with 6 members for their comeback at the end of 2014.

Infinite L wows everyone with his diving skills

On the recent filming of SBS ‘Good Sunday – Barefoot Friends, idols such as 2PM, 2AM, INFINITE, SISTAR, MBLAQ, RAINBOW and many more participated on Diving Competition Special.

Among the athletic idols, the idols who made everybody surprised is Infinite's L. Without much preparation, L was able to demonstrate a difficult diving position that reveals his skills.

The special episode will air on July 14.

Gummy's breaks up with YG Entertainment!

Gummy's ten-year working relationship with YG Entertainment has already ended.

According to YG Entertainment, Gummy's contract with the agency has expired while her contract with their Japanese counterpart is set to end soon as well. Gummy is already taking meeting with a prospective new home. 

However, YG Entertainment is currently in discussion with Gummy and will still support her final decision no matter what.

According to Cube Entertainment, BEAST will return with a new album. As of now, they finished filming their MV. Soon, they will promote on music shows.

Aside from the new album for the  BEAST's comeback,  they will hold a huge concert "2013 Beautiful Show" at the Olympic Gymnastics Stadium in South Korea on July 20 and 21. It will be followed at Yokohama Arena in Japan on July 30 and 31, then Kobe World Memorial Hall on August 6 and 7.

FT Island’s Lee Hongki and Mina Fujii to release a duet OST single

FT Island’s vocalist Lee Hongki and Japanese actress Mina Fujii will be singing a duet together for the final soundtrack of MBC’s ‘We Got Married - Global Edition’.

The virtual couple will release a duet song titled “Two of Us” on July 15. The song was briefly played on a previous episode of ‘We Got Married - Global Edition’ and received much attention from the viewers.

Ailee sweeps online music charts with “U&I”

Power vocalist Ailee has swept all the music charts with her latest title song, “U&I”.

Ailee made her comeback on July 12 with the release of her second mini album ‘A’s Doll House’. Immediately after her album’s release, her title song “U&I” shot atop Korean music real-time charts including MelOn, Bugs Music, Olleh, Mnet, Soribada, Daum Music, Monkey3 and Naver Music, leading to a coveted chart “all-kill”.

Along with the title song, Ailee’s other tracks such as “Rainy Day” and “No No No” also ranked high on the charts, as well as hotly searched for on various Korean portal sites.

“U&I” is a funky tune that features Ailee’s powerful vocals. The song was co-written by K-Pop hitmaker Shinsadong Tiger.

JYJ to release summer edition of ‘The JYJ’ Magazine

JYJ will be publishing a special summer edition of ‘The JYJ’ magazine in both Korea and Japan.

On July 12, C-Jes Entertainment revealed that the upcoming magazine theme will be ‘friends’ and will include issues about JYJ member’s cover story, personal experiences and thoughts of friends.

The magazine will contain never before seen photos from rehearsal and performance at the Tokyo Dome concert which took place in April. The magazine will also focus on each member’s solo careers and behind stories. The summer issue will have a total of 120 pages.

JYJ members said, We hope that the magazine will be a great gift for fans to remember our memories.”

Girl group A Pink has been appointed as the honorary ambassadors for the ‘Seoul Character & Licensing Fair 2013’.

On July 11, the six lovely members of A Pink attended the Seoul Character and Licensing Fair 2013 at the COEX, Seoul, where they were appointed as honorary ambassadors.

The event is organized by both COEX and Korea Creative Contents Agency to advertise Korean characters not only domestically but also internationally to 170 countries and to introduce various characters with unique concepts each year. The event will be held from July 17th to 21st at COEX, Seoul.

KCON 2013 announces the second artist on the lineup

After confirming EXO’s participation, KCON 2013 has now announced the second artist on the lineup!

On July 12, KCON USA released a short video, announcing ballad group 2AM as the second group confirmed for the upcoming large-scale K-Pop concert which will be held at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena on August 24 and 25.

KCON 2013 is Mnet’s large scale convention, dedicated to the hottest entertainment coming out of Korea including K-pop, K-drama and Korean movies. More artists will be announced in the next few weeks.

‘PATi PATi’ magazine sells out for the first time in 30 years with TVXQ as cover

TVXQ once again displayed unparalled popularity in Japan.

The duo was recently featured in the monthly music magazine ‘PATi PATi’ for the month of August, and the issue was immediately sold out for the first time in the magazine’s 30 year history, evidencing the TVXQ’s effect.

The publisher said, “In Japan, it’s rare to hear of a magazine to be sold out. We’ve been flooded with online orders since reservations began, so we decided to reprint the issue for the first time.”

The publisher added that this is the first time a reprint decision has been made for ‘PATi PATi’ since the magazine’s creation in 1984.

Super Junior releases album digest for Japanese album ‘Hero’

EXO has the highest monthly album sales in 2013

EXO is setting new record with their first studio album ‘XOXO(Kiss&Hug)’, topping the monthly physical album sales chart for the month of June.

EXO's first studio album ‘XOXO(Kiss&Hug)’ was released on June 3 and topped Gaon’s physical album chart for the month of June. The album’s Korean version ‘Kiss’ sold 206,812 copies and Chinese version ‘Hug’ sold 172,144 copies. The albums sat on the No.1 and No.2 spot on the chart.

In total, the boys sold 378,956 copies of ‘XOXO(Kiss&Hug)’, which is the highest monthly total sales on Gaon for the first half of 2013.

2NE1 to perform on ‘Music Core’ for 1st the time in 2 years

2NE1 will finally heating up the stage of MBC’s music program ‘Music Core’ after a 2 year absence.

An official of YG Entertainment confirmed that 2NE1 will be appearing on the July 13 airing of ‘Music Core’ to perform their new song “Falling in Love.” This will be the first time in two years since the group performed “Ugly” back in 2011.

Since there used to be some rumours about YG Entertainment not being on the best of terms with either MBC or KBS, 2NE1’s appearance on MBC may implies that the relationship between YG and MBC has been resolved.

Big Bang’s Daesung talked about his first ever kiss scene in his music video for latest Japanese single, “I Love You”.

The music video shows a touching love story of a man and a woman, and Daesung casted in the music video as the main character himself. In particular, it has become a hot issue in an instant as it contains the singer’s kissing scene.

Daesung said, “I was so nervous that I don’t remember anything. The music video shows one brief kiss scene only, but we had multiple shootings at different angles.”

2NE1’s Sandara Park and Park Bom will be meeting with their fans through a special promotion.

On July 11th, YG Entertainment posted a teaser video on their official blog, YG-Life, announcing more promotional activities from the group. 2NE1 members Sandara Park and Park Bom will teame up to meet with fans by creating their own official YouTube channel ‘Double Park TV’.

‘Double Park TV’ was named as such because Sandara and Bom’s last names are both ‘Park’, and the two girls will be delivering various news of 2NE1 members. In the preview, the duo showed off their wacky charms and slapstick humor. Sandara and Park Bom received the order from Yang Hyun Suk to create a promotional team. They even received official gear and business cards.
