Actor Kim Woo Bin's First Asia Tour Fanmeeting Sold Out Tickets

One of the hottest Korean actor now is Kim Woo Bin and he proves that even in Asian country he has a lot of supporters. One of his first Asian fan meeting tour is said to have sold out in just a minute.

According to his agency, SidusHQ on the 8th, the 'Kim Woo Bin, The 1st Fan meeting in Asia' which was recently announced with its additional dates have been receiving so much support from the fans and we have been swamped with love calls. All 1,500 tickets for Kim Woo Bin's upcoming fan meeting in Taiwan has been sold out within five minutes. Due to massive demand, they've decided to add an additional date also in Taiwan location, it was also sold out for 5 minutes. Over 2,500 tickets for round one of his fan meeting in Thailand also sold out within fifteen minutes. Even the additional concert in Thailand were being a blockbuster sold out in just nine minutes of going on sale on the 7th, over all total of 5,000 tickets in Thailand.

According to his agency representative stated, "Although it's his first Asia tour, we are thankful for the unexpected hot response and love from international fans... We will work hard to return fans' support with an even better event. We continue to ask for a lot of love and interest as we continue to move forward."

The 'Kim Woo Bin, The 1st Fan meeting in Asia' is said to continue to Taiwan this coming March 15, Shanghai on March 29 and Thailand on April 5. Kim Woo Bin will be busy preparing for his upcoming film "The Technicians", he stored something new to his fans and even recorded a song to them.

Lee Dong Wook Personally Asked Lee Da Hae to Be His “Hotel King” Drama Co-Star

Actor Lee Dong Wook revealed the behind-the-scenes story on how actress Lee Da Hae was cast for upcoming drama, “Hotel King.”

On the episode of MBC’s “Section TV: Entertainment News” that aired on March 9, lead actors Lee Dong Wook and Lee Da Hae made appearances as guests to talk about their new drama, “Hotel King.”

These two talented actors have combined their star power before for “My Girl,” a wildly successful drama that aired about 8 years ago. “Hotel King” will be their second project together since then!

Actress Lee Da Hae revealed how she came to accept the role in the drama saying, “Lee Dong Wook asked me if we could do it together.” Lee Dong Wook added, “When I found out that the director of ‘Hotel King’ had Lee Da Hae in mind for the part, I called Lee Da Hae up myself and asked her point-blank if she wanted to do it.”

“Hotel King” will start airing on March 29.

Simon D Joins Jay Park as the CEO of AOMG in New Profile Photos

Rapper and ex-Supreme Team member Simon D has joined his forces with Jay Park.

On March 9 at midnight, Simon D wrote on his Twitter, “AOMG‘s two CEOs,” and shared a sleek profile photo taken together with the fellow CEO. On the same day, Jay Park tweeted, “Simon D and I are now gonna run AOMG together! 2014 is gon be a crazy year~ AOMG 2 C.E.O http://soompi.com/#aomghttp://soompi.com/#followthemovement http://soompi.com/#happybdaysimond”

In the photo, the two CEOs are showing off their charismatic side by rocking stylish black outfits and striking strong poses. As expected, they simply ooze coolness as they utilize the leather sofa chair to boost their CEO status.

Back in September, Jay Park announced the launch of his independent hip hop label AOMG (Above Ordinary Music Group), name inspired by AOM, the b-boy crew he is a proud member of. Since then, he has gathered many fellow artists under his roof, and the label has quickly gained popularity among hip hop lovers.

From this day on, the two rappers will be the joint CEOs of AOMG. A representative of the label revealed to news outlet OSEN, “The two stood on stage together on March 9, when they celebrated Simon D’s birthday by throwing a performance at a club. It was the first time for the joint CEOs of AOMG to perform in front of the public together.”

In addition to Simon D and Jay Park, AOMG represents artists Gray, Loco, Jun Goon, Ugly Duck, DJ Wegun, DJ Pumkin, and b-boy crew AOM.

Taeyeon Thinks She Might Be Jinxing the Success of Girls’ Generation Songs

Girls’ Generation leader Taeyeon recently talked about a humorous jinx she believes she placed on Girls’ Generation songs.

On March 8, Girls’ Generation went on a guerrilla date with KBS 2TV’s “Entertainment Relay” and talked about their newest track, “Mr.Mr.”

In the interview, Taeyeon talked about a humorous jinx she believes she places on Girls’ Generation’s albums. She said, “When I receive title tracks, if I like them…they don’t tend to do very well. And when I think, ‘This song just doesn’t seem like the one,’ it tends to do very well.”

Then Sunny asked Taeyeon, “What did you think about [Mr.Mr.]?” After a slight struggle with words, Taeyeon replied, “I liked it…” causing everyone to laugh.

Taeyeon also talked about her impressions on two successful hits saying, “I didn’t think much of ‘Genie,‘ and I really wasn’t impressed with ‘Gee.’”

Lee Min Ho Becomes First Korean Actor to Reach 20 Million Followers on Weibo

In under four months, the number of people following actor Lee Min Ho on Weibo has – wait for it – doubled.

Currently, the hot Hallyu star is followed by over 20 million fans on the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, Weibo. He is the first Korean actor to reach this great milestone, and considering that not even all Chinese superstars have such a huge amount of followers on Weibo, this a significant record overall.

A representative of his agency commented on March 9, “In the evening of March 8, the number of people following Lee Min Ho on Chinese Weibo passed 20 million. He is the first Korean actor to reach these digits.”

On November 24 last year, merely around 100 days before doubling the amount, he reached 10 million followers on Weibo. This means that on average, he gained 100,000 new friends every day, and lately the number has been as high as 300,000. Talk about explosive growth!

A source in the Korean entertainment industry expressed, “It is difficult to reach such a milestone with one or two hit dramas or brief popularity thanks to events. This is the result of constant popularity over the years, and now his popularity has no boundaries.”

Lee Min Ho is known for interacting with his fans in a fun and loving manner, and he makes sure to delight his followers with handsome selcas and short updates on his life through his Weibo account.

In 2009, the actor made his entrance to the Chinese market with “Boys Over Flowers,” and has since then continued to pave his way to the top with “City Hunter” and “Faith.” However, it was “The Heirs” that most contributed to his final breakthrough in China, and he is now one of the most loved Korean actors in China. In January, he became the first Korean celebrity to appear on CCTV’s “New Year’s Gala” and attracted the highest viewer ratings with his performance.

As of March 8, the handsome star has been liked by 13 million people on Facebook. Overall, he has nearly 40 million followers on various SNS sites, making him the most followed public figure in Korea.

His agency commented, “We believe it is the result of his honest interaction with and caring after his fans.”

G-Dragon, Taeyang, f(x) and More to Perform at “Simply K-Pop Tour 2014 in Shanghai”

On March 22, a large-scale K-Pop concert, “Simply K-Pop Tour 2014 in Shanghai,” will be held at the Shanghai Mercedes-Benz Arena in China.

The “Simply K-Pop Tour 2014 in Shanghai” will feature a total of 12 artists: BIGBANG’s G-Dragon and Taeyang, f(x), Crayon Pop, U-KISS, Rainbow, Block B, VIXX, A-JAX, C-Real, Kan Mi Youn, and Jjun. The organizers are planning a grand, three-hour concert with a variety of diverse performances.

The concert will be overseen by Arirang TV and Shanghai’s Dragon TV, hosted by Intercrew and F.M. Media and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Korea) and China Youth Development Foundation.

Part of the proceeds will go towards building the “Korea-China Friendship Library” in Ankang, a city affected by the devastating Sichuan earthquake, via the China Youth Development Foundation.

A press conference will be held on March 21 which will be attended by the performers, government representatives of both countries and local reporters. There will also be a handover ceremony of the library’s first signboard, containing the names of the concert’s performers.

Intercrew, one of the concert’s hosts, stated, “The purpose of this concert is K-Pop’s social participation, and going beyond the friendship between Korea and China, the concert also aims to bring worldwide K-Pop fans together as one. The concert will be broadcast in mid-April on Arirang TV and Dragon TV to 192 countries, 105 million households and 330 million people around the world.”

They added, “This project will be continued in other parts of China where more ‘China-Korea Friendship Libraries’ will be constructed. In this way, China’s next generation of children will be able to learn about Hangeul and Korean culture, and this will drive the positive impact of K-Pop.”

Swings and Bumkey Win “HIPHOPPLAYA Awards 2013” Artists of the Year

Hip hop artists Swings and Bumkey, both Brand New Music artists, have been selected as the “HIPHOPPLAYA Awards 2013” Artist of the Year and R&B Artist of the Year, respectively.

HIPHOPPLAYA is an online hip hop community site supported by hip hop enthusiasts and has played a pivotal role in the development of the Korean hip hop scene for a long time. Unlike regular award ceremonies, the “HIPHOPPLAYA Awards” differentiates itself by handing over judging authority over to hardcore music fans.

Swings took home 41.76% of the vote in the Artist of the Year category, crushing his competition in the form of Beenzino (16.99%) and Paloalto (16.20%). His album “Swings #1 Mixtape Vol. 2” came in second place in the Album of the Year category, while the single “Bulldozer” was also in second place in the Single of the Year category. “Hwang Jungmin” took home first and third place in the Verse of the Year category, so it looks like Swings had the last laugh in the “Control” diss battle of 2013.

The title of R&B Artist of the Year went to Bumkey (33.89% of the votes), who had two major hits last year in the form of “Bad Girl” and “Attraction” and is currently preparing for a debut as the main vocalist for Troy, a hip hop group by Brand New Music.

Brand New Music revealed, “The two artists are truly thankful to have received the wholehearted support of true hip hop fans at these awards. We will continue to respect their individual color and individuality and work hard to repay fans with better music.”

Two other notable artists of 2013 were Crush, who took home Rookie of the Year, Featuring of the Year and Collaboration of the Year, and Beenzino, whose “Dali, Van, Picasso” has drawn praise as well as criticism for alleged plagiarism.
