Yang Hyun Suk, CEO of YG Entertainment, has founded YG Foundation, donating 1,000,000,000 Korean won (approximately one million US dollars) to help youths in need.
To celebrate YG Entertainment’s 18th birthday, Yang Hyun Suk created the charity in the name of his company on May 20.
The full name of the charity is Muju YG Foundation, “muju” meaning “ownerless” in Korean. It is supposed to signify how the charity will continue helping those in need and strive for change. The Foundation has also partnered with YG artists’ philantrophy project “YG WITH Campaign.” Spear-headed by Sean and Jung Hye Won couple with numerous YG artists and employees participating, “YG WITH Campaign” has quietly helped heart patients through supporting the “Dream Gift” project since 2009.
The donations made to the foundation will be used for scholarships and medical support for children in need.
