The drama "Inspiring Generation" does a convincing job of taking viewers back to 1930s Korea and China, partly because of the care taken in choosing its filming locations. The story began with the troubled childhood of street fighter Shin Jung Tae, played by singer-actor Kim Hyun Joong. To accurately recreate some of the impoverished villages of his childhood, the saga's producers took full advantage of the Suncheon Drama Film Set.

It's not the first time the location has been used in films or dramas and you may even recognize some of the locations if you have the chance to tour the site.
The film set consists of three villages. One recreates the streets of Suncheon in the 1950s and earlier. The others recreate poor Seoul neighborhoods of the 1960s and 70s.
The drama "East of Eden" was filmed on the set, as were some scenes in the film "Sunny".
The area became a popular filming location, some say, because acclaimed Korean director Im Kwon Taek was born nearby and liked to film locally.
Not only is there a lot to see in the area, but a visit to the open film set also makes a fun family trip. Kids can learn about Korea's history while touring the lot. Also visitors can sample traditional local cuisine at nearby open taverns. Spring may be the best time to visit as Suncheon's orchards feature beautiful apricot and peach blossoms.
The Suncheon film set is located at 22, Jorye-dong, Suncheon. To get to Suncheon, you can fly to Suncheon/Yeosu airport, or take a train from Seoul on the Jeolla Line. The train ride takes about five hours. An express bus service also runs between Suncheon and major cities such as Seoul.
