Chinese forest named after singer Kim Jang Hoon

A forest in Ningxia in northwest China will be named after singer Kim Jang Hoon, Kim’s agency revealed on November 8th.

According to the agency, Kim Jang Hoon planted 12,000 trees in the desert in Ningxia and Inner Mongolia from May at a cost of W300 million (US$1=W1,090). He donated some of the money himself and received the rest from corporate donations.

As a token of thanks, the local government of Ningxia has decided to name the newly created forest in his honor.

The agency said a marble sign will also be installed bearing the name of the forest, while Kim Jang Hoon will be named an honorary ambassador for environmental protection in Ningxia at an event in March.
