Girl’s Day Reveals How They Feel About miss A and Sistar on “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook”
Girl’s Day appeared on KBS 2TV’s “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook” on February 7, where they performed their hit tracks “Expectation” and “Something,” and had a mini-interview with MC Yoo Hee Yeol.
Girl’s Day previously performed on “Sketchbook” two years ago at the end of the show, but without a talk segment. Hyeri noted that compared to then, the cheers were much louder this time and thanked fans for their support.
MC Yoo Hee Yeol asked them if they were satisfied with their group’s name. The girls replied that Girl’s Day was probably the best choice of the candidates, which included Ice cream and Diamond.
He also asked them about them about miss A and Sistar, two girl groups that debuted around the same time as Girl’s Day. “Didn’t you feel restless since your group became popular relatively later?”
Sojin replied, “We thought that going slowly meant we would be able to experience and learn more, but we’ve actually gone through a lot. People associate a group with its debut song. Ours was ‘Tilt My Head.’”
The girls acknowledged that Sistar’s “Push Push” and miss A’s “Bad Girl Good Girl” had greater impact as debut tracks.
Yoo Hee Yeol commented that Girl’s Day’s popularity exploded with the release of “Expectation,” “Did you know how well you would do?”
Minah paused being replying, “More than knowing we would do well, we really really wanted to do well.”
The girls were also asked what the most difficult thing that they had done while being in a girl group was. Yura replied without hesitation, “Dieting. I wanted to eat earlier, but I couldn’t eat because I was afraid of my stomach showing.” Sojin also commented, “Being in a girl group means that even when you’re sitting still, you’re supposed to look cute and fresh, but I’ll be turning 30 in a year (Korean age).”
Girl’s Day has big dreams. Hyeri summed it up nicely, “Even if after time has passed, when people think back to this period, I hope they’ll remember Girl’s Day.”
