Lordbordem’s Weekly Ramblings – Dating Isn’t a Crime Unless You’re a Star
Just like the majestic giant sea turtle as it glides through the deep seas to return to its customary breeding area, this dear writer has crossed the great swaths of the internet to return to the promised land. In simpler terms, CallMeNOONA has bravely (or foolishly) allowed me to start writing regular featured articles again. Depending on how this goes, she will either shower me with praise and love, or she will be getting on the first plane to Australia to hunt me down with a rusty nail filer.
[Editor's note: I'm watching you - Noona]
Last time, one of the issues was that I just talked about the same thing over and over again. This time I’m going to try mix it up a bit more and put more effort into finding topics that are completely out of my comfort zone (I can see no reason why this won’t back fire spectacularly). This week’s rambling will be about the wonders of celebrity dating and everything that goes with it.
Very Important Disclaimer Stuff: The writer is not really an expert at anything much and is just a mere casual fan of pretty much everything. The writer has been known to be rather weird and cynical at times. The writer’s opinions certainly DO NOT reflect the opinion of Soompi’s news team or Soompi as a whole. Trust me, the rest of the team is quite normal.
Stars Can Date Like Actual Normal People!
Two years ago, the notion that female idols could even be seen anywhere near a male idol, let alone actually date them, would have been top news for a whole week. You would get analysts breathlessly talking about how it would impact future sales, casual observers going wow then moving on, and fans crying in a little corner when they’re not busy debating with each other on their favorite forums.
Oh look, it’s just your average day couple…
Now in 2014, we have YoonA dating Lee Seung Gi, Soo Young dating Jung Kyung Ho , Rain Dating Kim Tae Hee and So Yeon dating that guy that is always on Kim Byung Man’s “Law Of the Jungle” (Put your pitchforks down, I know it’s Oh Jong Hyuk). Through all of this, we got analysts being analysts, casual observers going wow, and fans crying and debating on Twitter and Facebook… hmm I guess things haven’t really changed that much.
Because only my opinion is the truth (Source)
Actually, I guess there is one thing that has changed: Agencies don’t seem to come down with a case of huntdownjournalists-itis whenever a scandal erupts like a volcano. It’s almost like they don’t mind their stars dating like normal people these days.
I’ve also noticed a lot less bubbling-at-the-mouth anger towards stars dating one another. These days it is much more common to find messages of support rather than cries of murder, bloody murder. I guess it could just be the fact that I’m paying more attention to positive comments these days, but I would like to think we have evolved as an internet using species.
Yes officer, I’m just a mere celebrity photographer
Also, lets all thank the crack team of ninja photographers across the country for their almost mythical ability to capture irrefutable shots of stars in their natural dating habitats. Seriously, I sometimes wonder if some of these photographers are invisible to the naked eye, because there is just no other way to explain how they get the shots they do. If they’re not invisible, then I blame stars for looking completely abnormal in everyday situations (Because a person dressed up like it’s the post-apocalyptic world is surely guaranteed to NOT stand out, or so they think).
Eventually we’ll just have celebrities submit their own relationship photos. Yay! for consolidation!
I eventually see this promising trend go in two ways: Stars eventually just give up on keeping relationships secret, shouting about it to the whole world OR we get into a massive arms race, where photographers employ the latest in spy technology, battling against the latest in disguises. Even better, maybe stars will actually think, “you know everyone gets caught dating in cars, maybe just maybe we should avoid the obvious?” In this case I would like to recommend a nice big bus because no is going to suspect two random dating stars in a massive bus.
