The year 2014 has barely kicked off, but two talented male idols have already caught the public’s eye on the big screen.

These two young men are none other than ZE:A‘s Siwan and B1A4‘s Jinyoung, who have successfully transferred from the music shows to movie sets.

Known for his statue-like looks, Siwan made his conclusive breakthrough as Jin Woo in the box-office hit “The Attorney.” Even though his role as the son of a poor mother running a restaurant was not the leading one, he touched the viewers’ hearts with his realistic and emotional acting, earning praises from critics.

Despite being a fairly new face in the scene, Siwan managed to match the level of industry seniors Song Kang Ho, Kim Young Ae, Kwak Do Won and others. “The Attorney” recently broke the admirable mark of 10 million viewers, becoming the tenth Korean movie overall to do so.

Siwan commented, “I think the start has been very good. However, Rome wasn’t built in a day. I feel pressured about my next piece,” and revealed his honest feelings. “As more and more viewers have seen my first piece, it becomes more likely that less viewers will see my next one, and due to this, I should prepare myself. I should to enjoy this moment, and work hard not to face a dilemma in the future,” he added.

“Actually, as it is my first movie, I have no idea what having 10 million viewers means,” the rising star, also known for his roles in the dramas “The Equator Man” and “The Moon That Embraces the Sun,” concluded.

Another idol-turned-actor that has left his mark on the industry is B1A4′s Jinyoung, who made his big screen debut with “Miss Granny.” Through his role as the leader of a rookie underground rock band, Jinyoung’s popularity has grown quickly. He received praises for his natural and fresh charm, which could also be felt in his on-screen performance.

Director Hwang Dong Hyuk said, “His attitude towards acting stood out from the beginning. His acting was good to the point where I wasn’t sure if he is an idol or just an actor.” The movie just recently recorded 5 million viewers, becoming the most successful Korean movie of 2014 so far.
